The Batalyse Toolbar

After installing Batalyse, you will find the Batalyse Toolbar when you run Origin. A tutorial to the Toolbar can be watched here Various function buttons are listed here with which you can start the evaluation of measurement data. If a function button has a grey background, it is not currently not available, e.g. if measurement data are to be compared but no measurement data is available.

In the following, the function buttons are described from left to right:

  1. Evaluate Data Files: Starts the evaluation. The folder system of your computer is called up to select a measurement file. After selecting the measurement file, the evaluation starts automatically if a parameter file is available. Otherwise, the input mask for creating a parameter file opens.
  2. Import from Database: Connects Batalyse to a SQL or MySQL server/database of your measurement instruments.
  3. Compare or Edit Parameters: If your Origin project contains result diagrams of different measurement data, the selected measurements will be merged into one result diagram for a better comparison.
  4. Re-open Parameters dialog: Opens the input mask of Batalyse to create a parameter file for a measurement.
  5. Manage Parameters Files: Displays an overview of the created measurement parameter files. Links them to selected measurements.
  6. Reset Graph Elements: This function is only active if already evaluated measurements are available in your Origin project. On activation moved label elements like the “C-Rate” are placed correctly again.
  7. Split Graph: Special application for the evaluation of online mass spectrometry (MS) data. A result diagram is generated for each selected mass.
  8. Copy Layer Plots: Copy all measurement curves from one layer of a result diagram to another similar result diagram.
  9. Continue Import: Update an existing evaluation with a newer test file of a still running test.
  10. Upload to Collect Upload your diagrams and all modifications you made to your installation of Batalyse-Collect.
  11. Support and Updates: Opens a mask with links for the support, download link for the user manual and the current Batalyse version and provides a key for creating a full version of Batalyse.

The Evaluate Data Files function initiates the evaluation by selecting one or more measurement files from your local file system: Tutorial video

Import from Database allows you to connect Batalyse-Data Analysis to an SQL Server when your instruments are connected to an SQL Server in the network. Here you also connect to Batalyse-Collect the universal database for all your lab and research data. For more information, please refer to the chapter on database connection or watch our corresponding tutorial.

The Compare or Edit Parameters function allows you to combine diagrams of different measurements in a comparison diagram. Watch our tutorial here. It makes sense to examine measurements with identical (or similar) test plan, but different test items.

You have two options to compare or to benchmark your test data. Either you select multiple files in advance of the analysis and choose which to compare or you apply the Compare or Edit Parameters for already evaluated test files in your Origin project.

1) Click on Evaluate data filesand choose mutliples files to be analysed. The multiple files dialog appears. Here you can edit or replace your specimen parameters and choose which files should be compared by setting the same number in the Comparison-group column.

2) After clicking Compare or Edit Parameters a dialog opens. You must mark the measurements to be compared in this dialog. You can also mark more than one measurement. Batalyse then creates various comparison diagrams for you from the selected individual measurements and combines them into a series of measurements. You can also use Compare or Edit Parameters to compare measurement series with individual measurements or other measurement series.

The comparative diagrams are then plotted in a new “Comparison” folder.

The Re-open Parameters dialog allows you to change the parameter file of a measurement that has already been evaluated, e.g. because you made a typing error during input or because you need additional result diagrams that were not selected before.

If you have selected the data sheet/worksheet of a specific measurement, the corresponding parameter file is automatically loaded in the input mask.

You can now adjust the parameter file in the input mask. If you choose Save & use for Current Workbook at the bottom of the input screen, the parameter file is overwritten and the workbook is updated accordingly. Use the Delete Graphs checkbox to delete all result diagrams created with the old parameter file. The Replot Graphs checkbox recreates the result diagrams with the newly created parameter file. With the button Save to new JSON File you create a new parameter file after your changes. The old parameter file remains unchanged. With Set as Default, your entries are saved in the mask and displayed again the next time you call up the input mask.

Open File Parameter List provides you with a (historical) overview of the storage locations of created parameter files and associated measurement files (Test File). Here you can link measurement files with parameter files. If you want to evaluate the measurement data later, Batalyse automatically accesses the parameter file linked here and evaluates it.

The function buutons Add to list, Save changes and close and New Parameters are available.

Add to List opens the following input window. Under the heading Data Type you select whether you want to load your measurement files from your hard disk or a data carrier (“file system”), or whether you want to access an SQL database (database). In the latter case, your measuring instruments must be able to be controlled via an SQL server. You will find information on setup a SQL server in the chapter Evaluation via a network/database/server setup

Select Test/s then select your measurement files and the corresponding parameters files. Your changes and set links will only be accepted if you click on the Save changes and close button. New Parameters opens the input mask for creating parameter files. Alternatively, you can use the corresponding button of the Batalyse Toolbar.

The Reset Graph Elements function key becomes active when you have selected evaluated result graphs in your Origin project. Origin gives you many ways to change the view of the result graph. You can zoom in or out on certain areas of the graph and select specific sections on the graph axes.

If you do this, the diagram label created by Batalyse, such as the C rate, may no longer be displayed or may have been moved. In addition, the axis scaling becomes incorrect for several axes in a diagram. By clicking on Reset Graph Elements the labels and axes are corrected according to your selected diagram view. The following examples show the effect of Reset Graph Elements.

Split Graph function is most useful when using Batalyse to evaluate online mass spectrometry (MS) or DEMS data. With online MS or DEMS, many mass signals can be recorded. Batalyse plots the masses selected in the input mask together into one result diagram. After evaluation, you can use Split Online MS Graph to obtain a separate result diagram for each of the individual masses. More generally, this button can be used for diagrams in which a single layer contains multiple plots which you wish to separate into individual diagrams.

To be updated.

Continue Import is a feature to update the diagrams of a test you have already evaluated. It saves you time if the measurement is still running because you don't have to evaluate the whole file again but just update existing diagrams. With this feature you can also update all tests in your Origin project. Continue Import also works with SQL servers and picks the update information from there.

- With Select all you can select all evalauated tests in your Origin project to be updated.
- You can decide whether you just want to update the calculation or whether you also want to Plot new graphs
- If you don't need the now outdated diagrams any more you can Delete existing graphs

With the Upload to Collect button you can select test items within your Origin project to be uploaded to your local Collect database e.g. because you made manual changes to the diagrams.

The Support and Updates button provides download links to the latest version of the user manual, the latest Batalyse version, Update change log and customer service.
